ITS A BOY!!

Look how big HE is!! These are just a few of my favorite pictures...

Okay, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post on this wonderful news. Friday the 15th we went for our monthly visit to the doctor. We were only 18 weeks, but really hoping that we would be able to find out if we were having a boy or girl. I was so excited and trying to plan how we were going to tell our parents. My friend Anna suggested a really cute idea that involved us having our parents over for dinner that night and telling them. So I called both our parents the night before and they agreed to come over for dinner. Our appt was at 9:00 Friday morning. When we got there they called our name fairly quickly to go back for the ultrasound. The lady told us she was going to take lots of pictures and we would get several of the good ones. I was very excited about that considering we only got one picture last time! She asked if we wanted to know the sex, and of course we said YES! As we are looking at our beautiful baby's head, arms, and legs...she said "I think it might be a boy!" We were completely shocked for two reasons...1) we were both thinking it was a girl, and 2) we couldn't see anything! She pointed to where we needed to look and the legs were crossed! She said she couldn't see for sure until the legs uncrossed, but she was thinking it was a boy. Now how she came up with that without seeing between the legs i'll never know! Anyway, the baby wasn't really moving alot, and I was afraid we were going to have to come back later to be certain if it was a boy or girl. All of a sudden the baby started doing flips and the legs flew open! Then she said "It's definitely a boy!!" Ryan grabbed my arm and had the biggest smile on his face that I have ever seen! It was like he just recieved the best gift ever! I was so excited tears were welling up in my eyes! She took several more pictures, and then gave us a few. It had been two months since we had seen the baby, and I was AMAZED at how much bigger he was! He was absolutely beautiful! Ryan had to go back to work, so then I went back for my actual appt. Once again I stood on the scale and cringed! I had gained EIGHT pounds! Yikes! Of course I was worried, but she reassured me that my weight gain was fine. I had only been gaining two pounds on each of the previous visits and so my total weight gain was only 11 pounds. She asked if I had been craving salty foods and I answered yes. She said some of the weight was probably water retention from the sodium. So needless to say I am trying to watch my sodium now!
After the appt I called Ryan at work. He was dying to tell people and to be honest, so was I! We decided we couldn't wait till dinner so on his lunch break we went to tell our parents at their offices. I bought white flowers and had a blue ribbon with a blue pacifier tied around them. Of course, they figured it out right away! Everyone was so happy! It was a very exciting day and now I can't wait to start decorating HIS room!
Ryan and I feel so blessed and know this baby boy is a gift from God. Although we can't wait till he arrives, we are enjoying every minute of the pregnancy and all the milestones that come with it! Now I am waiting on Ryan to be able to feel his precious son move in my belly! This is truly an amazing road we are going down! Thanks for all the prayers and support!

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was Ryan's 28th birthday. So I decided to be a wonderful wife and cook him supper and bake a cake. Okay, for those that know me...cooking is not exactly my strong point. But I knew he would appreciate it, so I made one of his favorite dishes. Thank goodness it isn't too difficult. Then came the cake part. I decided to make his grandmother's sugar crust cake. He had this cake every year growing up for his birthday. I made one last year, but I had help (thanks melanie!). This year I decided to tackle it all on my own. I mean this cake is made from scratch...flour, sugar, eggs, yada yada. Needless to say my kitchen was a MESS! :) Fortunately I started early in the afternoon and had supper and dessert ready with a clean kitchen when he got home! He was very excited. My parents came over to eat with us and brought his presents. Everyone said supper was good (I even checked to see if anyone was sick this morning..haha!). Ryan opened all his presents and liked everything he received. We still have to celebrate with his family (his mom was out of town on Thursday), so I'm sure he will get some more goodies! As soon as I download my pics I'll put one up of the cake!
Till next time,
Lacey
